Basically, the main reason why we establish requirements is to filter out the number of applicants. It is very hard to judge one thousand projects without the duration of the Symposium. In addition to this, the requirements are established to make sure that the contestants are fit for the contest. It is also a way of making sure that the project and thesis of the applicants are relevant to the topic.
Who is Eligible for the Contest? According to the Institute for Polymer Research at the University of Waterloo and ipruw education, all graduates and undergraduates who are focusing on or performing studies regarding:

Are eligible for the contest. Of course, they have to submit some certain requirements before they can be fully applied to the contest. One of the requirements is for the applicant to provide a personal information such as their names, mailing addresses, the title of the research or projects, and recommendation letter signed by a research supervisor. It is also important that these signatures have corresponding signing date.
What are the Technical Requirements?
After providing the necessary information sheets and recommendation letter, the applicants are required to provide a curriculum vitae with research contributions. These research contributions would include the publications and other forms of research. It is also mandatory to provide a complete description of the study and research, as well as, the significance and impact of the study in their corresponding fields.

Another technical requirement is a short report about the thesis or project. It is limited to 1000 words including the tables and figures. In general, this report must contain the objective, hypothesis, and all the outputs of the study. Most of all, the participants must be able to provide an explanation why their rejects or thesis fit to the title which is about Polymer Chemistry and Polymer Reaction Engineering.
